Volunteering is an aspiration to provide service to help others. Would you like to join us by contributing your time and effort to help the needy? Volunteering is the most direct way to spread your care to the underprivileged. We would like to invite you to join our volunteering force to spread joy and love to the society. Our volunteer stations include Tzu Chi Academy of Humanistic Studies, Food Banks, Nursing Homes, Street Cleaning, Salvation Army¡Ketc.
Tzu Chi Academy of Humanistic Studies
You are welcomed to join our Saturday Chinese schools, which are held in 5 different locations in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, and Burnaby. Tasks include assisting teachers in the classroom, helping children to get involved in class activities, and insuring children¡¦s safety. There are also spiritual gathering sessions for volunteers to participate and share experience and thoughts with each other. There are also opportunities to help with sorting out recycling materials, which are not accepted by the government. This is another way of loving our environment.

Food Banks
Tzu Chi volunteers help out at several locations in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and Surrey. On average, each location requires around 20 ~ 30 volunteers to provide services to approximately 100 families. Tasks include gathering food donations, sorting and packaging food items, and distributing to the needy.

Nursing Homes
Tzu Chi volunteers provide services to 6 nursing homes in Greater Vancouver. It is a good opportunity to spend time with the elderly. Your contribution can bring joy and comfort to the lonely seniors who cannot visit their own families often. Activities include playing games, providing manicure and hair salon services, celebrating special events and holidays, or simply chatting with the elderly. Volunteers at nursing homes provide companionship and care for our respected elders. Volunteers regularly visit the retirement centre once a month or once a week depending on different locations.

Street Cleaning
Keeping our environment sanitary is the most fundamental way to show our love to mother earth. Tzu Chi volunteers participate in Vancouver, Surrey, and Burnaby¡¦s street cleaning programs as well as Richmond¡¦s River Adopting program. It is held once a month during the summer time. It is a fun and meaningful activity for families to join. Your participation can make this world a more beautiful place.

Salvation Army and Hot Food services
This is the service to provide freshly cooked hot food for homeless individuals. Volunteers not only provide delicious hot food, fresh fruits, but also provide warmth to the hearts of the homeless. One unique part of Tzu Chi hot food services is that only vegetarian food is served. Healthy diet is one of the most important principles of Tzu Chi. Services are provided each month in different locations.
